# [[Hollow Tar Zombie]]

## Description
A Hollow Tar Zombie is a corrupted undead that rises from creatures killed while carrying the [[Black Hollow Curse]] in [[The Gauntlight]]. [[Calamity's Ruin]] identified them by name after the fight on Sythra's level: these are not ordinary zombies, but undead that [[Nhimbaloth]] has altered as they rise. A variant, the **Hollow Tar Zombie Snatcher**, fought alongside them.
## Characteristics
- **Traits**: undead, evil
- **Attack**: vomits tar over an area, dealing heavy bludgeoning damage (one blast hit a [[Hollow Root-Ridden]] for 34)
- **Curse carrier**: its vomit spread the Black Hollow Curse to [[Ashnefrotty|Ash]]
- **Monster parts**: *undead, evil, acid, strength, constitution, bludgeoning, medium armor, athletics, stealth*
## Encounter History
### Session 132
Four of the [[Dreshkan|Dreshkans]] rose as Tar Zombies mid-fight and turned on [[Graveknight Armor|Sythra]]. One's vomit hit a Hollow Root-Ridden and Sythra, and another infected Ash with Black Hollow Stage 1 ([[132_20261011 Everyone's Problem Is Now Zombies]]).
### Session 133
Back in [[Otari]], Calamity's Ruin named the creatures and split the parts: the party's share from these zombies and the Hollow Root-Ridden came to 71 gp of monster parts ([[133_20261018 Healer Heal Thyself]]).
