# [[Nhimbaloth]]
Evil goddess that feeds on spirits before they reach [[Pharasma]] for judgment. She was depicted in [[The Gauntlight#Octagonal antechamber]], on the doors.
## Servants
- **[[Hollow Eye Harbinger]]**: Servants that appear when someone becomes undead in [[Level 5]] of [[The Gauntlight]]
- **Purpose**: These servants try to open holes in reality so that Nhimbaloth can gaze upon the world
- **Goal**: Open enough holes that enough of Nhimbaloth's destructive gaze can fall upon the area
- **Current Status**: Already opened several holes, each dealing significant pain
## Session 108 - Nhimbaloth's Gaze Revealed
The party learned crucial information about Nhimbaloth's connection to [[The Gauntlight]]:
- **Belcorra's Ritual**: Nhimbaloth once gazed upon The Gauntlight when [[Belcorra]] was going to unleash something. [[The Roseguard]] stopped her before she could complete her plan
- **Corruption Source**: The attention of Nhimbaloth has corrupted The Gauntlight, and the corruption intensifies the deeper you descend
- **Permanent Death Zone**: All living things that die from this effect in the corrupted area die permanently. It's as if all creatures have the *death* trait: when brought to 0 hit points and failing the death saving throw, death is permanent
- **Divine Knowledge**: [[Vayle]], [[Ashnefrotty|Ash]], and [[Grumblebum|Grumble]] all rolled natural 20s on religion checks to learn this information
## Session 113 - Auguries and Nightmares in Otari
- **Recurring Presence**: [[Vandy Banderdash]] confirmed that Nhimbaloth's name has come up again and again in auguries and nightmares of people in [[Otari]]
- **Fulcrum Lens Connection**: The party speculated that [[The Fulcrum Lenses]] might be connected to summoning Nhimbaloth
- **Wrin's Vision**: [[Wrin Sivinxi]]'s vision of a two-headed, seven-legged dog carrying a black Fulcrum Lens may be symbolically connected to Nhimbaloth's influence
## Session 109 - Memory Erasure
- **Permanent Forgetting**: Creatures that die in The Gauntlight due to Nhimbaloth's corruption will be permanently forgotten by the living
- **Effect on the Grave Knight**: [[Graveknight Armor|Sythra]] has lost many of her memories since dying in this area, though her sense of duty remains. This may be a result of Nhimbaloth's corruption affecting even undead creatures
## Session 132 - Black Hollow Reaches Ash
When a Tar Zombie's vomit hit [[Ashnefrotty|Ash]] in [[132_20261011 Everyone's Problem Is Now Zombies]], he was afflicted with Black Hollow Stage 1 (Doomed 1, *Unholy* tag). The effect was attributed to Nhimbaloth, so her influence now touches a party member directly through the [[Black Hollow Curse]].
## Session 133 - The Divine Hand in the Curse
The Black Hollow Curse now carries a divine component it didn't have before, and the undead rising from it are altered ([[Hollow Tar Zombie|Hollow Tar Zombies]], [[Hollow Root-Ridden]]). Both point to Nhimbaloth. Ash feels she has noticed him: he dreams of being observed from very far away ([[133_20261018 Healer Heal Thyself]]).
