# [[Sod Hound]] Sod Hounds are canine-shaped earth elementals that are normally mossy but can form out of packed earth and pebbles in environments without moss. They move by having rocks travel through the earth where their feet would be, rather than having visible legs. ## Characteristics - **Level**: 3 - **Type**: Elemental - **Appearance**: Dog-like rock creatures that move through the ground - **Role**: Often tasked with guarding lesser sites and finding mineral deposits - **Uses**: Sometimes kept as pets, sometimes as bodyguards ## Arcane Binding Sod Hounds can be bound through Arcane Binding, which can be undone through an out-of-combat ritual. The binding area must be visible while performing the ritual. ## Session 107 - First Encounter The party encountered Sod Hounds in [[The Gauntlight]] alongside [[Living Landslide|Living Landslides]]. These elementals: - Were chained to walls, preventing them from moving beyond a certain distance - [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] identified them as Level 3 creatures often used as guards - Were under Arcane Binding that hadn't been renewed for many years - Were observed rushing towards the [[Graveknight Armor]] and were killed by it
