# [[The Voidseekers]] ![[The Voidseekers.svg]] ![[uu-voidseekers.png]] A cult that worships nothingness and seeks to die in spectacular ways. [[Vayle]] infiltrated them and prevented them from completing a summoning ritual in [[The Gauntlight]]. Their leader is [[Malik]]. ## Beliefs & Philosophy - They believe nothingness will come to everyone eventually anyway - They seek out creatures of darkness and places where Occult things are happening - They want to die in spectacular ways while pursuing the void - **Not Nhimbaloth-aligned**: Unlike the [[Cult of the Canker]] who worshipped [[Belcorra]], the Voidseekers do *not* specifically mention [[Nhimbaloth]] ## Anchoring Rituals The Voidseekers' signature work is binding a sapient anchor to call something through a portal. The party has confirmed two ritual anchors and suspects more. - **Method**: Physical restraint on an altar plus a chanting circle around the anchor - **Outcome can be unpredictable**: The intended target isn't always what answers the call - **What they're calling**: Hungry, predatory entities — not deities, not aligned servants ### Confirmed and suspected anchors - **[[Zarmavdian]]** *(confirmed)* — used to summon [[Xal'garoth - The Apex Beast]] from another world, into the body of a dwarven werewolf - **[[Zuhri]]** *(confirmed)* — used as an anchor, but Ash answered the call instead of the beast that was lunging for her - **[[Ruskramigin|Rusk]]** *(suspected)* — may have been used as an anchor; unconfirmed - **[[Lazda Venkervale]]** *(suspected)* — probably tortured by them in The Gauntlight, though he doesn't appear to have come away bound to any spirit ### Zuhri's vision of the ritual (Session 116) During a long rest, Zuhri experiences Ash's memory of the summoning directly. Ash, on a peaceful non-Golarion world, sees a tornado-like portal and Zuhri lying on an altar with Voidseekers chanting around her. A beast lunges for the portal; Ash intercepts it, is too close to the portal himself, and is sucked through — ending up bound to Zuhri instead of the beast. ## Vayle's Infiltration - **Active**: Vayle is inside the cult, reporting on it without converting - **Major prevention**: Stopped the cult from summoning something or opening a portal in The Gauntlight (revealed to the party in Session 067) — possibly at the cost of innocent cultists - **Recurring dreams**: Malik visits Vayle in dreams praising their usefulness — *"I'm proud of what you have done.
