# [[Tomb Jelly]]

A Level 6 mindless ooze creature that devours flesh while leaving bones intact. Ancient cultures used these creatures to polish the bones of the deceased in tomb preparation rituals.
## Appearance
Tomb Jellies appear as puddles of goo made from organic material. When emerging from piles of flesh, they take on a semi-solid form that can move and attack.
## Combat Abilities
- **Mindless**: Immune to anything with the *mental* trait
- **Ooze Traits**:
- Immune to critical hits
- Immune to precision damage
- Easy to hit (low AC)
- **Splattering Ooze**: Can splatter substance on targets that causes:
- Persistent void damage over multiple rounds
- Can temporarily grant benefits to targets (melee strikes gain curse benefits)
- Has beneficial effects to undead creatures near them
- **Flesh Consumption**: Devours living things, eating flesh while leaving bones intact
## Behavior
Tomb Jellies are mindless creatures that simply devour any living things they encounter. They emerge from piles of organic material and attack any nearby creatures.
## Encounter
The party encountered three Tomb Jellies in [[The Gauntlight]]'s dissection room on Day 77 ([[103_20251214 Tomb Jellies in the Dissection Room]]). When [[Grumblebum|Grumble]] was investigating dwarven bodies that had been recently dissected, three Tomb Jellies emerged from the organic material scattered throughout the operating room.
During the combat:
- [[Jaspen Bond Callistair|Bond]] was able to identify them and recall their characteristics
- The jellies attacked with splattering ooze that caused persistent void damage
- One jelly managed to splash its substance on [[Vayle]], temporarily granting her melee strikes the benefits of its curse and healing her for 5 HP
- The party noted that Tomb Jellies have beneficial effects for undead allies nearby
- Grumble discovered they are immune to slashing damage
- The jellies displayed tactical behavior, with one prioritizing healing Vayle over attacking
- During the fight, a [[Mutalisks|mutalisk]] observed from the doorway, and a [[Soldier Construct]] passed by heading south
The operating room where they were encountered had metal shelves with dwarven bodies, slabs above the room where bodies would fall, and was clearly being used as a dissecting/processing facility.
### Session 104 Conclusion
The fight concluded in [[104_20251221 Green Eyes Turn Red]], with the party successfully defeating all three Tomb Jellies. The party harvested 93.75 gp worth of monster parts from the creatures, with notable traits including: mindless, ooze, acid, void, immunity to bleed, critical hits, mental, precision damage, and slashing; as well as useful components related to strength, constitution, athletics, and bludgeoning.
