# [[Tower of the Watcher]]

The Tower of the Watcher is a tower dedicated to [[Grotus]]. [[Zuhri]] became a summoner here.
## Physical Description
The tower is made of dark stone and is located in a clearing in the forest near [[Absalom]]. It used to be part of a bigger structure, but everything else has crumbled around it. The tower has different levels, but no obvious way to get from one level to another. There are architectural designs and nonsense writings praising their gods, mostly decorative. There's a small hole at the top (6 inches in diameter) that allows a view of the sky - this is a deliberate hole, not the result of wear and tear.
## Religious Significance
The tower is a shrine to [[Grotus]], the Watcher of the Gate. It was erected to connect to and see their god at certain times of the year or of the day, always at night. The god of end times, Grotus normally looks out onto the boneyard, though this location seems unusual for that.
## Magical Properties
- Parts of the tower light up at night with glowing writings and drawings
- The pattern of the glow seems random
- There's a magical chant interspersed with the writing that serves as a spell to see the Watcher of the Gate
## History with the Party
This is where [[Zuhri]] and [[Ashnefrotty|Ash]] first met. [[Ashnefrotty|Ash]]'s first memory was the inside of that tower, where he spent several hours or days. [[Zuhri]] had been running away from tormentors and this tower was a safe haven for her. [[Ashnefrotty|Ash]] nursed [[Zuhri]] back to health here.
## Session 061
The party discovered the tower while traveling through a wildfire. They investigated the metal hexagons nearby (Bond-sized, made of some sort of metal with religious scripture) and found it was a shrine to [[Grotus]]. The party took a rest there and encountered a mysterious doll that appeared by their campfire - made of tweed and soil and dark roots, unnaturally large with one eye sewn as an X and the other gouged out, with a smiling mouth showing sharp teeth.
