# [[Zarmavdian]]
The second member of [[The Roseguard]]. His origin is unknown. He claimed to be from one of the dwarven sky citadels in the north, maybe even from [[Dongoon]], right next to [[Alkenstar]]. However, Zarmavdian isn't a dwarven name - it must be a title. He has no relatives, but it's said that he left his spellbook in Otari.
## Background
- Second member of the Roseguard
- Origin unknown
- Claimed to be from dwarven sky citadels in the north
- Possibly from Dongoon, near Alkenstar
- Zarmavdian is likely a title, not his real name
- No known relatives
- His clan was not particularly known for working with other dwarven clans that were primarily artisans and warriors (as opposed to arcane practitioners)
- Left his spellbook in Otari
## Mysteries
- His true identity remains unknown
- "Zarmavdian" appears to be a title rather than his actual name
- No known family or relatives
- His spellbook is said to still be in [[Otari]], though its current location is unknown
## Current Status
- Deceased (went insane after defeating [[Belcorra]])
- His spellbook remains somewhere in Otari
- **MAJOR REVELATION**: A clone of Zarmavdian exists, created before fighting Belcorra
## Recent Discoveries
- He was the tactician of the Roseguard group
- His role was to transport, buff, research enemies, and do all the thinking
- The name "Zarmavdian" means "The Watcher" in Dwarven
- He worked alongside [[Vol Rajani]] and [[Esefna Menhemes|Osefna]] (the fighters) and [[Otari Ilvashti]] (the moral compass)
- He was part of the group that stopped [[Belcorra]] from attacking [[Absalom]]
## Session 075 - The Possessed Dwarf
- **MAJOR REVELATION**: The possessed dwarf that [[The Voidseekers]] used as an anchor to summon [[Xal'garoth - The Apex Beast]] was actually Zarmavdian himself
- **Summoning Anchor**: He was chained and used as a locus for the summoning spell - the spell required a being of the same type as an anchor
- **Werewolf Form**: The dwarf was a werewolf, which explains why the beast could be summoned through him
- **Clan Dagger**: The dwarven body had a clan dagger belonging to Zarmavdian's clan
- **No Tomb**: There is no tomb of Zarmavdian - the possessed dwarf WAS Zarmavdian
- **Ancient Body**: The dwarf's body seemed ancient with runes on it, suggesting he had been preserved or transformed
## Spellbook Location
- His spellbook was sold to the main library in [[Absalom]]
- The wizard shop in [[Otari]] was trying to hide the fact that they were not doing well financially
- The spellbook was sold along with many other books from the library in [[The Gauntlight]]
- [[Galiath Banderdash|Galiath]] had sold them a large collection of books from the Gauntlight library
## Session 077 - The Clone
- **MAJOR REVELATION**: The party met a clone of Zarmavdian that he had created before fighting [[Belcorra]]
- The clone knows he's a clone and that he's been away for a long time
- The clone revealed that [[Otari Ilvashti]] and [[Esefna Menhemes]] are "neither alive nor dead," suffering a similar fate to himself
- The clone thought Esefna and Otari would end up together
- The clone was the one who gave Esefna the locket
- The clone had plans to protect his friends from death, but many plans failed
- The clone is not at full potential as the other Zarmavdian and doesn't have all the powers he had
- The clone revealed that [[Belcorra]] was installing [[The Fulcrum Lenses]] - four magical lenses meant to focus something unknown
- The clone lent the party his spellbook, [[The Thresholds of Truth]] (written in Dwarvish)
- The clone agreed to meet the party in [[Otari]] after teleporting them there
